Body Lotion or Body Butter? How to Choose A Step 3 For You

BODY NOTES | ROUTINE

By Christian Hawkins, Licensed Esthetician

You know the moment. You step out of the shower, reach for a moisturizer, and suddenly wonder whether your skin needs Lotion, Butter, both, or a small committee meeting.

Here is the lovely news: Step 3 does not need to be complicated.

Body Lotion and Body Butter have the same job in Regeily's numbered routine. They are both moisturizers. You choose between them based on the texture you prefer, how your skin feels, and the kind of routine you are most likely to repeat.

The best choice is the one that makes consistency feel easy.

FIRST, REMEMBER WHERE STEP 3 BELONGS

Regeily keeps body care clear by giving every part of the routine a number:

  1. Cleanse.

  2. Polish and tone. On exfoliation days, cleanse, polish with gentle circular motions, rinse, then apply Toner to damp skin. Body Polish may be used up to four times per week. On other days, move directly from Cleanser to Toner.

  3. Moisturize with Lotion or Butter.

  4. Finish with Oil.

Lotion and Butter are two paths through the same step. You do not need to layer them or use both to have a complete Step 3.

CHOOSE BODY LOTION WHEN YOU PREFER A LIGHTER TEXTURE

Body Lotion is the lighter Step 3 option. It is a natural fit for women who like moisture without a richer feel, especially when the weather is warm, the morning is moving quickly, or a lighter texture simply feels more like you.

This is not the beginner choice or the lesser choice. It is a texture preference.

If a lighter moisturizer is the one you will happily reach for after Toner, Lotion may be your match.

CHOOSE BODY BUTTER WHEN YOU PREFER A RICHER TEXTURE

Body Butter gives Step 3 a richer, more comforting feel. You may prefer it when the air feels cooler, when your routine happens at night, or whenever a more substantial texture feels especially satisfying.

Butter is not automatically better because it is richer. It is simply a different experience.

If you look forward to taking an extra moment to massage in a richer moisturizer, Butter may be the texture that helps your routine stick.

LET THE SEASON GUIDE YOU, NOT BOSS YOU AROUND

Many women enjoy Lotion during warmer months and Butter when the weather cools. That can be a helpful starting point, but it is not a rule.

Your preference may change with the season, your schedule, or even the time of day. You might keep Lotion within reach for busy mornings and choose Butter for an evening routine. You might love Butter all year. You might remain forever loyal to Lotion.

There is room for your routine to feel personal.

DO YOU NEED BOTH?

No. Start with the texture you are most excited to use consistently.

You can add the other later if you want options, but a crowded shelf is not the goal. A routine that fits your real life is.

Your face may receive most of the beauty conversation, but the skin below your chin deserves thoughtful care, too. Choosing a Step 3 moisturizer is one simple way to make that care part of your everyday rhythm.

A QUICK STEP 3 DECISION

Choose Lotion if:

• You prefer a lighter texture.
• You want a simple moisturizer for a quick routine.
• A lighter feel makes you more likely to use Step 3 consistently.

Choose Butter if:

• You prefer a richer texture.
• You enjoy a more comforting moisturizing step.
• A richer feel makes your routine feel more satisfying.

Still undecided? Begin with the texture you already know you enjoy. Wellness does not require a perfect routine. It asks for a commitment to one you can return to.
